Mill Hill County High SchoolEducation
Hampson Williams were appointed by Mill Hill County High School to provide a solution for the quick requirement of an increase of classroom units.
The project manifested itself in the provision of a new mathematics facility. The scheme was designed around modulation and construction using Cross Laminated Timber (CLT), allowing flexibility and a quick way to increase the number of classroom units. The design, construction and running costs as well as the guaranteed durability from the CLT were seen to outweigh the cost of the increasing accommodation through the rental of a Portacabin. Its use enabled a structural and technical performance as well as a finish to be incorporated within a single product. Externally the building is clad in horizontal timber, whilst internally the classroom and corridor ceilings were acoustically perforated Birch Faced Plywood.
